Mikaela is a native Seattleite who spent fifteen years in HR leadership roles at Seattle based companies including Microsoft, Starbucks, Amazon, PopCap Games and Redfin. She’s worked with diverse leadership teams, spent three years in India with a rapidly growing business, and supported teams throughout Europe and Asia. In 2015 she founded uniquelyHR, providing flexible HR for fast growing companies. Mikaela serves on the boards of Businesses Ending Slavery and Trafficking (BEST) and WeCount. She’s passionate about Seattle, startups, DEI, and women in tech. Mikaela has an MS in HR Management with a certificate in Organizational Development, and is an ICF credentialed coach.

After completing her coaching certification, Mikaela decided to blend her HR and coaching practice by becoming an entrepreneur. After assembling a team of thoughtful, dynamic, and business savvy HR professionals, Mikaela launched uniquelyHR. Running a business allows her to be creative, add value, and limit bureaucracy in a field that many leaders love to hate. She delivers results through her team by building trust and engaging clients in creative problem solving.

Mikaela has coached leaders at all levels who want to live and lead in a purposeful way based on their values. By acting as a sounding board and accountability partner, she supports her coaching clients in achieving their goals. She particularly enjoys working with executives and high potential women leaders.

Mikaela lives in Seattle and is happily married to Henry, who’s a musician, artist, and teacher. Their two children are good at challenging the status quo and are a constant source of learning and laughter. She is a strong believer that a healthy, inclusive culture is integral to the success of every organization.

Cheryl Ingram PhD, CEO and Founder of Diverse City and Inclusology stated “Mikaela will be a great addition to our team. Her expertise is well needed in our space. Most DEI Initiatives live in HR and work directly with HR and this made a lot of sense for our model and our clients.”
